Adopt A Rescue Worker Campaign! 9/11 - We will never forget.

Let us pray for the people who tried so valiantly to help others in their time of need. Some of them never got to go home; some are unable to speak about those horrible days. All of us were forever changed by these events. We do not forget. We will never forget.
I ran across an amazing website. It takes the 'Adopt A Soldier' campaign to another level. These Angels want our military personnel to know that we love and cherish them. They are not forgotten, and we will continue to support them no matter what. If you would like more information, please go to this website:

Soldier's Angels

I have checked them out with several reputable sources, and am more than satisfied that they do what they say - support our troops!

SC Voting & Your Representatives

The first step in finding your local and state representatives is to grab your voter's registration card and look at the information. If you do not have your card, or would like to show someone what their Congressional, House, or Senate districts are, go here -

SC Election Commission
you plug in your name and address and it give you all of your information including where your voting precinct is! WHAT? You are not a registered voter? We can fix that on the same sight - SC Voter Registration Application. This is in .pdf form so you will need the free reader.

U.S. Senators for S.C.

U.S. House Representatives for S.C.. If you have not taken the time to find your district by visiting the SC Election Commission's link, you can plug in your zip code and they will take you right to your rep. The catch? You have to have your entire zip. So go here first and get it.

The State of South Carolina also has a website - The South Carolina Legislature which gives you access to your local senators and congressmen and women. Again, you will need to know your local districts either by looking at your voter's registration card, or by visiting the SC Election Commission and plugging in your information.

From Randy Cassingham's This is True
Common Sense Security

If you lived in a big city with lots of criminals, you wouldn't leave your door open with valuables in plain sight when you left for the day, or were tucking in your kids. But your computer lives in the biggest city ever created. A lot of you leave your doors open for the criminals online, and there are plenty of them. Common Sense Security is designed to give an overview of what we can do to keep our computers safer and more secure from spyware, viruses, worms, trojans and more.
http://www.PreyProject.com -- Prey. When your laptop is stolen, you aren't just out your laptop, you lose all the personal data, and possibly even your identity. With Prey, you can fight back. Install a simple, lightweight program, and within minutes, you are protected. Should your laptop go missing, go to their website and report it. Prey will leap into action, silently connecting the laptop to any available network. Then, it starts sending back reports, documenting the current IP, screenshots of what the thief is doing, and even photos, if you have a webcam. And best of all, Prey is free, open source software, so there is really no reason not to put this on your laptop today! (TC) Compassion & Choices - end-of-life care decisions & free forms. Identity Theft & How You Can Stop It.

JURY DUTY SCAM: This has been verified on Snopes.com (link listed below) and by the FBI (their link is also included below). It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports CBS. In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers. Give out any of this information and bingo! Your identity just got stolen. The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving in formation by pretending they're with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud. Check it out here: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/juryduty.asp
